PARIS IN WINTER. SKIING IN CHAMONIX (Jan 2009)   photos

I didn't go to Paris to take photos. I went there to work, but I don't go anywhere without my camera. Paris is not at it's best in winter, but there is always something going on. Of all the attractions, I like the Eiffel Tower the most. It was built in 1889 especially for the Exposition Universelle and was going to be torn down afterwords. It was saved when it proved valuable for communication purposes.  It consists of 18.038 pieces and it is painted every 7 years. It takes 60 tonnes of paint!
