Norway
Stockfish. Usually it's
cod, dried by cold air and wind
Flora of the North. We
found a lot of wild mushrooms
and blueberries
The biggest camper we have
seen. They come from all over Europe, but mainly Germany
Letter boxes
Instead of taking the main
road, we chose road 815 on Vestvågøya
Somewhere along the 815.
It follows the coast and the views are fantastic
Going back to stockfish,
cod is dried between January and May
During that time 16
million kilograms of stockfish is produced in Lofoten
Stockfish from Lofoten is
regarded as the best and is exported to countries like Italy, Croatia,
Portugal and Nigeria
I got it from Russians who
came back from a fishing trip and had boxes full of them
Fire grilled and super
fresh fish. The best ever
Next day weather was
better and we stopped in Malnes
There are many
little-known places like this in Lofoten
It's best to come by car
and take time to explore, not just to drive along the E10
Because of the Gulf
Stream, winter temperatures are very mild considering their
location north of the Arctic Circle
Looking towards
Henningsvær, the main centre for rock climbing
Gimsøystraumen Bridge. A
week earlier it was a sunny 19C, now only 9C with wind and rain
But just a few kilometers
away we were sitting in the sun again
On the way to Henningsvær
we stopped many times for photos
More serious photographers
come there, too
Henningsvær
Henningsvær is located on
several small islands
Svolvær, the favorite
starting point for tourists visiting the Lofoten islands
On our last day we
"discovered" another little known place
This small beach was just
a kilometer or 2 from the main road
After getting closer we
didn't find any sand. It was made of sea shells and corals, I think
Similar place on the Isle
of Skye in Scotland is called "coral beach"
Just as we were about to
leave, Hurtigruten appeared
It is described as the
"World's Most Beautiful Sea Voyage"
Leaving Lofoten and
starting a very long journey back to Poland through Sweden, Finland,
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
