Next day we arrived in
Brown Station, an Argentine Antarctic base
A pair of Snowy
sheathbills in Brown station (open only in summer)
Paradise Harbor. I'm sure
it deserves that name in good weather
There was about 20cm of
fresh snow
We took a boat ride in the
bay
Paradise Harbour
We are going to have a
closer look at the glacier
Boats have to keep a safe
distance from active glaciers
Glacier in Paradise
Harbour
Arriving in our next
destination - Foyn Harbour
There was no landing in
Foyn Harbour, just a boat ride
Foyn Harbour - sun and

In 2014 - 2015 season,
63,000 tourists visited Antarctica
The wreck of the whaling
factory ship Guvernøren in Foyn Harbor
This ship was full of
whale oil when it caught fire and sank in 1915
Ice cliffs, Foyn Harbour
Arriving in Deception
Island, South Shetland Islands
Deception Island is the
caldera of an active volcano, which erupted in the 70'
Deception Island is one of
the safest harbours in Antarctica
Deception was a focal
point of the fur sealing industry and later whaling industry
Boat remains are protected
as part of Historic site
Looking inside one of the
whale oil tanks at Whalers Bay
The Polar Plunge at
Deception Island
Our guides watching the
Polar Plunge
Our last landing site -
Yankee Harbour (Greenwich
Island)
There was a large Gentoo
penguin colony and a few seals
We had seen a lot of
penguins, but every time there was something new
Gentoo penguins
Yankee Harbour, Greenwich
Island
In November Gentoo
penguins gather in colonies for mating and bringing up chicks
Two eggs are laid and both
parents share incubation (35 days), changing duty daily
Brown skua can steal eggs
and kill chicks
Our guides saying "good
bye" to Antarctica
Our last zodiac ride and
finally blue sky!
Sailing past Livingston
Island
The wind gets stronger as
we get closer to the open ocean
Pyramid Island - the last
of South Shetland Islands
Entering rough seas and
looking back towards Livingston Island
Beautiful iceberg, even
the captain came out to take photos
We passed a group of large
icebergs. From here it's 800km to Cape Horn
After crossing the Drake
Passage, we are back in Ushuaia
Good bye Tierra del Fuego!
Antarctica was absolutely amazing!
