ANGEL FALLS, THE HIGHEST WATERFALL IN THE WORLD. CAYO SOMBRERO IN MORROCOY NP (April 2007) text
In order to see the highest
waterfall in the world, I had to fly to Canaima
It's possible to go by
boat, but I've never met anyone who did that
Lake Canaima
We went up river Carrao and
then
Churun until we reached Isla Raton
From there it's 1 hour walk
to the viewpoint
I didn't like it at first - it was
gray and cloudy. But next morning was sunny and I took this photo
Falling from Auyan-tepui
Salto Angel is 979m high
It the rainy season there
is a lot more water
On the way back
The name has nothing to do
with angels but with Jimmie Angel, who landed his plane on top of
Auyan-tepui
We had great weather
I spent a day on Isla
Anatoly, and the rest of the group left for Canaima
Hacha Falls were nearby
It's possible to walk
behind the falling water to the other side
The noise was awesome
It's forbidden to come to
this waterfall
Again Hacha Falls
Small Cessna took me
back to Ciudad Bolivar
I decided to visit
Cayo Sombrero, a small island in Morrocoy National Park
It took only 20 min by
speed boat to get there
I knew it would be
beautiful!
One of my favorite pictures
Opposite side of the island
Caracas, the capital of
Venezuela
