Norway 2012
Driving along the E10 we saw this huge troll. Welcome to Norway!
Hytte,
or summer house, near the border with Sweden
We drove past Narvik without stopping because we wanted to get to Lofoten that day
The weather didn't look
good, but I know how quickly it can change in Norway
The next day we woke up to
low clouds
We passed several tunnels
on the way, some of them over 6km long
Finally, it became warm and sunny.
The scenery was getting better and better
Another bridge, another
island. This one is called Gimsøya
We were very lucky with weather. It rained a lot during the summer, but we had a week of sun
Fortunately there are many
places to stop along the E10, because the scenery changes all the time
Beautiful beach on
Flakstadøya, one of the islands belonging to Lofoten archipelago
Norway is not a cheap
country to visit, but it's fjords and mountains are worth it
High season ends 15 August
and there are few tourists after this date
The road ends in Å where there is a free camping ground with amazing views
This is why we came to
Lofoten. Unforgettable experience
The next day we decided to
go to Stokkvika on the other side of the island
View from the pass towards
Stokkvika. The path is very steep
Terrain is not easy, with
many boulders and rocks. There are chains in some places
It turned out to be a long
day. 12 hours return from Å
Classic view of Reine and
surrounding mountains
If I was to visit only one
place in Lofoten, I would choose Reine
In the late 1970s Reine
was selected as the most beautiful village in Norway
View of Kjerkfjorden from
Reinebringen mountain, about 450m above Reine
View from Reinebringen. I
saw this picture on postcards, thinking it was taken from a plane
Low clouds get close to
the mountains as I come down from Reinebringen
Driving along the E10,
it's always a good idea to explore the small roads
Clouds come from the
north, so we decided to go to the southern part of Flakstadøya
Road leading to Nesland.
It was sheltered from clouds and cold wind
Small village of Vester
Nesland. Great place for
camping and fishing. We spent 2 nights there with our newly-met Polish
friends
