CLIMBING PICO BOLÍVAR 4985m, THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN VENEZUELA (March 2007) text
Laguna Coromoto, where I
spent the second day of "La Travesia" trek near Merida
Laguna Verde (Green Lake)
Camping near Laguna el
Suero
Typical flora of páramo
Campamento Timoncitos at
4500m
At sun rise I was on my way
to the highest mountain in Venezuela
I followed a couple who had
guides
Some parts were steep
The last part was the most
difficult but I made it to the top
There is Bolivar statue on
the top
I didn't have a rope
The next day I climbed La Concha 4800m
View from La Concha
The next challenge was Pico
Humboldt, which I climbed on day 7
Below is
Laguna el
Suero, where I left unnecessary equipment
The same day I climbed Pico
Bonpland
View from the top of Pico
Bonpland
Back to Laguna Verde
Little bird looking for
food near my tent
Day 8. Very long descent to
civilization
Vegetation was changing
quickly as I descended 1800m
