NEPAL + INDIA 2011
NEPAL. ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT PART 1
At the start of the trek
in Syange. It's possible to get here by car
 It's a very slow and
uncomfortable journey
 Main "street" in Jagat.
Many shops, guest houses, restaurants
 Crossing Marsyangdi River.
Bridges are quite new and safe
 It's better to wait if
animals are about to cross
 Lalupate
flowers. In the background a new road is being built
 Mountains get bigger and
steeper
 Porters carrying big loads
for tourists
 Suddenly the valley opened
up and I walked into a picturesque village called Tal
 Most trekkers sleep in Tal
 Children playing outside
of my hotel
 Workers building the new
road, which is praised by locals but criticized by tourists
 Crossing another bridge
over scary waters of Marsyangdi
 Second day of walking the
famous Annapurna Circuit
 The road is not finished
and all goods are transported by porters or pack animals
 Lovely waterfall near the
trail
 Women porters work as hard
as men
 Children in Thanchowk were
very happy to play with my walking sticks
 When it comes to my
camera, I'm the only person allowed to play with it
 Walking through the
village of Thanchowk
 Prayer wheels at the
entrance to Upper Pisang
 My hotel in Upper Pisang,
just below the monastery
 Simple kitchen but great
food prepared by friendly family
 Early morning outside of
Pisang Monastery
Day 3 from Upper Pisang to
Bragha with great views of the Annapurnas
 The mountain on the left
is Pisang Peak 6091m
 Looking towards Annapurna
III. The runway of Hongde airport is visible below
 Entrance to Ngawal.
Buddhists walk on the left and turn every single prayer wheel
 There are no washing
machines here
