NEPAL + INDIA 2011
NEPAL. ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT PART 2
To avoid altitude
sickness, it is necessary to spend an extra day in Manang area
I decided to go to the Ice
Lake (Kicho Tso) at 4620m. The views of Annapurna and Gangapurna were
spectacular
On my 5th day I finally
had good views of big mountains
That's Annapurna III
(7555m) on the left and Gangapurna (7454m) in the middle
Stupa near the Ice Lake
People living in Nepal
Himalaya follow Tibetan Buddhism
Annapurna III from the
valley. It may not be obvious, but it's 4000m above me!

Solar cooker. The sun is
very strong at this altitude
Walking towards
fortress-like village of Jharkot
This side of Thorung La is
very dry with little vegetation
Day 8 from Muktinath to
Kagbeni. Easy walking with beautiful scenery
This is around 3400m in
altitude
I'm not sure how goats
survive dry winters, there is so little to eat
This goat had to be
encouraged to pose for my photo
Water is precious here
